Place of Origin:
United States- Slate - is a metaphoric rock made up of extremely small particles. The material is of clay like origin, produced of complex silicates and minerals. Slate is usually found within the lakes, rivers, or water that circulate heavily because when the particles from the water settle onto the floor it gathers and forms sequential layers. These deposits significantly accumulate and shale is formed. This splits and forms the sheets of slate. Finishes: natural cleft, honed, tumbled, machine gauged, or sand rubbed. Slab thickness: 2 cm (3/4") and 3 cm (1 1/4"). Tile sizes: 12 x 12, 16 x 16 and 18 x 18.
